“Facebook has signed a monster global deal to distribute NFL highlights” – Business Insider
In this deal, the NFL will post video recaps from each of the 256 regular season games, playoffs, and Super Bowl to Facebook. NFL Films, the league’s specialty media division, will provide content for Facebook’s growing watch tabs, NFLTurningPoint, NFLSoundFX, and NFL Game Recaps.
As a week 3 Fantasy Football went into the final hours during Monday night’s Cowboys vs Cardinals game, my undefeated record was on the line. Without cable, I was left refreshing updates on the Fantasy app and watching Larry Fitzgerald’s point count as his number of receptions tied for his record high.
Down by 38.5 and needing an unbelievable game from the veteran, I was longing for a way to brag to friends via video and highlight reel in addition to all of the smack talk I surely let The Yung Dranos have.
With these new NFL + Facebook distribution channels, I can use “Turning Point” to send Drane key moments in the Monday night game. “Sound FX” can provide me with audio from key players I can flood his inbox with.
Facebook greatly benefits from high-profile content directly from the NFL. Each content package features Facebook channels fans can each like and follow. They found themselves one new follower…The Yung Dranos.
